Privacy
How we handle personal information through this website: the church’s Website Privacy Policy.
1. Purpose and status
1.1 This Policy explains how Redeemer Church New Plymouth handles personal information through its website. It applies the church’s Privacy Policy to the website, in line with the Privacy Act 2020.
2. Contacting the church
2.1 When someone uses the website’s contact form, the church collects their name, email address, and message. When someone emails the church, it receives whatever they send.
2.2 Contact form messages are stored in the church’s Google account and sent to the church office email. They are used only to reply and to help with the enquiry, and are deleted when no longer needed.
3. Members’ area
3.1 The members’ area is for church members only and requires members to sign in. It holds the church directory of members who have agreed to be included, with their names, photographs, and contact details, as well as rosters, newsletters, documents, and the full sermon archive.
3.2 Members shall use directory details only for church purposes and shall not share them, or their sign-in details, with anyone outside the church.
3.3 Anyone who wishes to change or remove their directory details may contact the church office.
4. Cookies
4.1 The website does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.
4.2 When a member signs in, the website stores a sign-in token in their browser to keep them signed in. It is removed when they log out or the session expires.
5. Other services
5.1 Some pages show content from other services: the church’s Facebook page, a Google map, sermon videos from YouTube, and the library catalogue, which is kept in Google Sheets. When this content loads or is played, those companies may collect information such as the visitor’s IP address and set their own cookies, under their own privacy policies.
6. Use, sharing, and storage
6.1 Personal information collected through the website is used only for church purposes. It is not sold, and it is not shared outside the church unless the person agrees or the law requires it.
6.2 The website is hosted by Cloudflare, and the church’s email and records, including the members’ directory and rosters, are held by Google. These providers may store information on servers outside New Zealand.
7. Access, correction, and complaints
7.1 Anyone may ask to see, or to correct, the personal information the church holds about them. Requests go to the Privacy Officer at [email protected] and will be answered within 20 working days, as the Privacy Act 2020 requires.
7.2 Anyone who is not satisfied with how the church has handled a privacy concern may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (www.privacy.org.nz).
8. Review and adoption
8.1 The Elders shall review this Policy at least every three years, and whenever the website changes how it collects personal information. The Administrator, or another person appointed by the Elders, shall carry out the review and report any recommended changes to the Elders.
