Update No. 414

Good Afternoon Redeemer Family

Sermon Recordings

This week, Sean preached from Hebrews 10:32, drawing our attention back to the profound grace we received when God first opened our eyes to the gospel. He reminded us that while being enlightened by Christ transfers us out of the patterns of the old age and into His new kingdom, it does not exempt us from the sufferings of living in a broken world. Instead of despairing when facing trials, we were encouraged to remember the transformative work God has already done in us, relying on the Holy Spirit's daily grace to persevere in faith and live lives pleasing to our Lord as we wait for His return.

If you weren’t able to make it on Sunday or if you’d like to listen to this sermon or any previous sermons, they’re all available here… or you can just listen below.

Can’t wait until Wednesday to listen to our latest sermon? Good news, you don’t have to! Our sermons are now uploaded by 5pm every Sunday.

ReMemer Church

Wednesday In The Word

Our next Wednesday in the Word is on next Wednesday, March 11th, from 7:15pm at the Rogers (68 Fernleigh Street)! This is open to anyone and everyone (13+), and if you’ve got younger kids that need to come along, they’re welcome to hang out too! The Rogers’ house is currently a construction site, and their kitchen is now in the lounge, so pray for fine weather so that we can have a group outside! Otherwise, it’s going to be cozy!

Just a reminder of the questions that we will be asking/answering, so that you can come prepared!

What did you like about this story? Why?

What questions might someone have about it?

What do we learn about people?

What do we learn about God (or Jesus)?

After hearing this, what are you going to do this week?

Our discussions will be based around Luke 3:3–17, but feel free to engage with the rest of the context reading as well.

Context Reading: Luke 3:1–4:13

Focus Passage: Luke 3:3–17

Haven’t done the reading? Haven’t thought about the questions? Good news! You’ve got a whole week to prepare!

Monthly Men’s Breakfast

Our next monthly men’s breakfast is this Saturday, the 7th of March, from 8am at Mike’s place (87 Veale Road). All of the men of the church are welcome! You can also bring a friend, but he too must be a biological man (is there any other kind? I think not).

Supporting Carli in Women’s Ministry

As we shared recently, we are thrilled that Carli Rogers is officially taking on the Women's Ministry leader role alongside her current deacon responsibilities!

To make this 8-hour-a-week role financially sustainable for Redeemer in the long run, we are stepping out in faith and asking the church family to consider targeted giving.

Our Goal: 10 partners at $24/week.

Current Progress: We already have 4 people committed! (See the progress graphic above!)

Remember, $24 a week is simply a guide to help us track our progress. You definitely don't have to give that exact amount. Whether it is more or less, every bit helps us support Carli in this vital discipleship work, and hopefully even expand her hours as the church grows!

How to Partner With Us: If you would like to have "skin in the game" and financially partner with and support this ministry, you can use the details below:

Bank: TSB
Account Name: Redeemer Church
Account Number: 15-3953-0698528-000

Reference: As with your regular giving, please include your Name (for your end-of-year tax receipt) but ALSO the letters "WM" (so we know to apply it to this specific goal!).

Thank you for praying about how you can be a part of this!

Tea & Testimony

Tea & Testimony is back for 2026!
Our first gathering will be on Saturday, March 14th, from 7pm. We are still currently on the look out for someone willing to host, so if you’ve got a suitable house that you’d like to offer, please get in touch with Carli.

We are so excited to gather again! It will have been a few months, and we have missed these special evenings. Whether you are a regular or have joined the church recently, we would love for you to come along.

What to Expect
Simply put, this is a time for the women of the church to pause, catch up, and enjoy genuine fellowship over a hot cup of tea (and, hopefully, some delicious cake and biscuits!). We’ll also hear a testimony shared by one of the women in our community.

What is a Testimony?
For those who might be new to this, a testimony is simply a personal account of God’s goodness. While it often tells the story of how someone came to faith, it can also be about moments of hardship, growth, or change where God’s presence and power were clearly felt.

These aren't just stories about us; they are stories that point to God’s faithfulness and grace. It is a wonderful way to encourage one another and give glory to Him. We hope to see you there!

Redeemer Easter Series

On Sunday, March 22nd, we are so excited to begin our Easter lead-up series. Continuing with our wilderness theme, we’re calling this three-part series Jesus the Redeemer: The Wilderness to the Cross, which will culminate on Easter Sunday.

Over the three weeks, we will be looking at:
Jesus Out of the Wilderness: Announcing His Mission
Jesus Into the Wilderness: Preparing for His Mission
Jesus Out of the Wilderness: Accomplishing His Mission

Easter is always such a great time of year to invite friends and family along to church to hear the Gospel message. I mean, anytime of year is good, but people are often much more open to visiting during Easter! We’d love to encourage you to be bold in sharing the Gospel and inviting the people you love (that should be everyone, right?) to join us.

What Are Our Kids Learning?

On Sunday, the children learned about the Tower of Babel and how the different nations and languages of the world came to be. We talked about how the people disobeyed God's command to spread out and fill the earth. Instead, they stayed in one place and let pride take over, attempting to build a massive tower to the heavens to make a great name for themselves. Because God opposes pride, He confused their languages and scattered them across the earth.

But even in this scattering, we saw God's beautiful, overarching plan! While Babel brought confusion and division, we learned that Jesus came to bring us back together. He didn't just come for one group of people; He came to save a family from every language, tribe, and nation. Someday in heaven, people from all over the world will finally work together in perfect harmony to show just how amazing our God truly is!

Their memory verse is:

“Its name was called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth. And from there the Lord dispersed them over the face of all the earth.” - Genesis 11:9

Reflection For The Week

“O Lord God, The first act of calling is by thy command in thy Word, ‘Come unto me, return unto me’; The second is to let in light, so that I see that I am called particularly, and perceive the sweetness of the command as well as its truth, in regard to thy great love of the sinner, by inviting him to come, though vile, in regard to the end of the command, which is fellowship with thee, in regard to thy promise in the gospel, which is all of grace. Therefore, Lord, I need not search to see if I am elect, or loved, for if I turn, thou wilt come to me; Christ has promised me fellowship if I take him, and the Spirit will pour himself out on me, abolishing sin and punishment, assuring me of strength to persevere. It is thy pleasure to help all that pray for grace, and come to thee for it. When my heart is unsavoury with sin, sorrow, darkness, hell, only thy free grace can help me act with deep abasement under a sense of unworthiness. Let me lament for forgetting daily to come to thee, and cleanse me from the deceit of bringing my heart to a dutybecause the act pleased me or appealed to reason. Grant that I may be salted with suffering, with every exactment tempered to my soul, every rod excellently fitted to my back, to chastise, humble, break me. Let me not overlook the hand that holds the rod, as thou didst not let me forget the rod that fell on Christ, and drew me to him.”
