Update No. 415

Good Afternoon, Redeemer Family

Sermon Recordings

This week, Sean focused on Hebrews 10:32–34, urging us to remember the early days of our faith when our eyes were first opened to the beauty of Jesus. He reminded us that while this enlightenment transfers us into Christ's new kingdom, we still live in the tension of the overlapping ages, facing the very real sufferings of a broken world. Challenging our cultural idols of self-protection and isolation, we were encouraged to endure hardships together as a church family, joyfully holding our earthly possessions loosely because our true, eternal hope is safely secured by the finished work of Christ.

If you weren’t able to make it on Sunday or if you’d like to listen to this sermon or any previous sermons, they’re all available here… or you can just listen below.

Can’t wait until Wednesday to listen to our latest sermon? Good news, you don’t have to! Our sermons are now uploaded by 5pm every Sunday.

ReMemer Church

Wednesday In The Word - Tonight!

Our next Wednesday in the Word is on tonight, from 7:15pm at the Rogers (68 Fernleigh Street)! This is open to anyone and everyone (13+), and if you’ve got younger kids that need to come along, they’re welcome to hang out too! The Rogers’ house is currently a construction site, and their kitchen is now in the lounge. The weather is looking good, so we’ll likely have a group outside. If you want to be in the outside group, dress accordingly!

Just a reminder of the questions that we will be asking/answering, so that you can come prepared!

What did you like about this story? Why?

What questions might someone have about it?

What do we learn about people?

What do we learn about God (or Jesus)?

After hearing this, what are you going to do this week?

Our discussions will be based around Luke 3:3–17, but feel free to engage with the rest of the context reading as well.

Context Reading: Luke 3:1–4:13

Focus Passage: Luke 3:3–17

Haven’t done the reading? Haven’t thought about the questions? No worries, we’ll read the focus passage together tonight, so you’ll still be able to participate (if you want to).

Tea & Testimony

Tea & Testimony is back for 2026!
Our first gathering is this Saturday, March 14th, from 7pm at Carol’s place (87 Veale Road)! Thanks for hosting, Carol!

We are so excited to gather again! It will have been a few months, and we have missed these special evenings. Whether you are a regular or have joined the church recently, we would love for you to come along.

What to Expect
Simply put, this is a time for the women of the church to pause, catch up, and enjoy genuine fellowship over a hot cup of tea (and, hopefully, some delicious cake and biscuits!). We’ll also hear a testimony shared by one of the women in our community.

What is a Testimony?
For those who might be new to this, a testimony is simply a personal account of God’s goodness. While it often tells the story of how someone came to faith, it can also be about moments of hardship, growth, or change where God’s presence and power were clearly felt.

These aren't just stories about us; they are stories that point to God’s faithfulness and grace. It is a wonderful way to encourage one another and give glory to Him. We hope to see you there!

Supporting Carli in Women’s Ministry

As we shared recently, we are thrilled that Carli Rogers is officially taking on the Women's Ministry leader role alongside her current deacon responsibilities!

To make this 8-hour-a-week role financially sustainable for Redeemer in the long run, we are stepping out in faith and asking the church family to consider targeted giving.

Our Goal: 10 partners at $24/week.

Current Progress: We already have 5 people committed (including larger one-time donations)!

Remember, $24 a week is simply a guide to help us track our progress. You definitely don't have to give that exact amount. Whether it is more or less, every bit helps us support Carli in this vital discipleship work, and hopefully even expand her hours as the church grows!

How to Partner With Us: If you would like to have "skin in the game" and financially partner with and support this ministry, you can use the details below:

Bank: TSB
Account Name: Redeemer Church
Account Number: 15-3953-0698528-000

Reference: As with your regular giving, please include your Name (for your end-of-year tax receipt) but ALSO the letters "WM" (so we know to apply it to this specific goal!).

Thank you for praying about how you can be a part of this!

Monthly Men’s Breakfast

Our next monthly men’s breakfast is next month, on the 11th of April, from 8am at Mike’s place (87 Veale Road). We’re meeting on the second Saturday of the month because the first Saturday is Easter weekend. All of the men of the church are welcome! You can also bring a friend, but he too must be a biological man (is there any other kind? I think not).

Redeemer Easter Series

On Sunday, March 22nd, we are so excited to begin our Easter lead-up series. Continuing with our wilderness theme, we’re calling this three-part series Jesus the Redeemer: The Wilderness to the Cross, which will culminate on Easter Sunday.

Over the three weeks, we will be looking at:
Jesus Out of the Wilderness: Announcing His Mission
Jesus Into the Wilderness: Preparing for His Mission
Jesus Out of the Wilderness: Accomplishing His Mission

Easter is always such a great time of year to invite friends and family along to church to hear the Gospel message. I mean, anytime of year is good, but people are often much more open to visiting during Easter! We’d love to encourage you to be bold in sharing the Gospel and inviting the people you love (that should be everyone, right?) to join us.

I have created a post on Facebook and Instagram. Feel free to share them!

What Are Our Kids Learning?

On Sunday, the children learned about God's amazing call to Abraham. Even though Abraham was seventy-five years old and had no children, God asked him to leave his home and travel to a new, unknown land. God made some incredible promises: He would give Abraham a promised land, a family as numerous as the dust of the earth, and use his descendants to bless the entire world. Despite how impossible it all must have seemed, Abraham believed God's word and obeyed in faith.

We talked about how God's promise to Abraham wasn't just for him, it was part of a grand rescue plan for the whole world! The promised blessing to "all the families of the earth" was ultimately fulfilled in Jesus, who came directly from Abraham’s family line. Through Jesus, people from every nation can become part of God's family and look forward to a new and even better promised land. What a beautiful reminder that we can always trust God to keep His promises!

Their memory verse is:

“I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.” - Genesis 12:2

Baptism Class

Considering getting baptised but aren't sure of the next steps? Or maybe you're just curious about what this whole "baptism" thing is really all about?

Good news! We’ll be running a Baptism Class soon. If you're interested in joining, please come chat with Rex. We guarantee that after the class, you'll understand baptism at least as well as Delmar does!

Reflection For The Week

"Life together under the Word will remain sound and healthy... where it understands itself as being a part of the one, holy, catholic Christian Church, where it shares actively and passively in the sufferings and struggles and promise of the whole church... we are bound together by faith, not our experiences."

- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
