Update No. 411

Good Morning Redeemer Family

Sermon Recordings

This week, Sean walked us through Hebrews 10:26–31, a sobering but gracious warning that calls us to take our faith seriously. We were reminded that persistent, deliberate sin reveals a heart drifting from Christ, and that God’s warnings are not meant to drive us to despair, but to keep us from danger. In love, the Lord calls us to hold fast to Christ, remain rooted in His people, and help one another persevere in faith, knowing it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God, but a safe and saving thing to remain in the hands of Jesus.

If you weren’t able to make it on Sunday or if you’d like to listen to this sermon or any previous sermons, they’re all available here.

ReMemer Church

Welcome, Baby Fletcher!

From Cam: “After a massive day, Shaina did incredibly amazingly well, giving birth to Fletcher Desmond Lester Moratti just before midnight on the 7th February in theatre through assisted delivery. Fletcher and Shaina are both doing really well, but just tired from labour starting at 10am and going through to almost midnight. Weighing in at 7.6lb, Fletcher is just worth every bit of the wait and more!

A big thank you to all those who have been praying during the pregnancy. The Lord has been so gracious to us! Newest Redeemer family member!”

Please continue to be in prayer for Shaina and Fletcher as they recover and adjust to life out in the world.

Wednesday In The Word - Tonight!

Tonight is the first night of our new fortnightly homegroup, Wednesday in the Word! We have been incredibly encouraged by the response that we’ve had to starting up a homegroup. It should be a great night! Just a reminder that anyone 13+ is welcome to participate in the homegroup, but if you’d like to bring younger children along to hang out, you are welcome to do so.

What is Homegroup?
At Redeemer, a homegroup is simply a group of people meeting regularly to share life and open God’s Word together. It’s a space to build community, deepen relationships, and grow in our love for God and one another.

How it Works
This year, we will be journeying through the Gospel of Luke. Rather than a formal lecture, our time will be more like a relaxed discussion. We ask that you read a Context Reading before we meet together each fortnight, but our discussions will be based around a shorter Focus Passage. If you are unable to read them beforehand, no worries, we’ll read (at least) the Focus Passage together on the night. We’ll also keep things simple and accessible by just asking five key questions:

What did you like about this story? Why?

What questions might someone have about it?

What do we learn about people?

What do we learn about God (or Jesus)?

After hearing this, what are you going to do this week?

Join us for the First Session
We are kicking things off tonight from 7:15pm, with the theme: Heavenly Announcements & Prophetic Hymns.

Context Reading: Luke 1:1–80

Focus Passage: Luke 1:46–56

I will share the readings for each upcoming gathering in the weekly newsletter and our new WhatsApp group, "Wednesday in the Word." If you’d like to come along, please join the WhatsApp group so we can stay connected!

Redeemer Men’s Breakfast

Our first (mostly) monthly men’s breakfast of 2026 is coming up this Saturday, February 14th, from 8am at Mike’s place. I have personally found these to be such an encouragement. It’s been awesome hearing about how God has worked and is working in the lives of the men of Redeemer. If you haven’t already joined the Men’s Ministry WhatsApp group in the Redeemer Community, you can do so by clicking the image above. See you on Saturday!

Tea & Testimony

Tea & Testimony is back for 2026!
Our first gathering will be on Saturday, March 14th, from 7pm. We are currently on the look out for someone willing to host, so if you’ve got a suitable house that you’d like to offer, please get in touch with Carli.

We are so excited to gather again! It will have been a few months, and we have missed these special evenings. Whether you are a regular or have joined the church recently, we would love for you to come along.

What to Expect
Simply put, this is a time for the women of the church to pause, catch up, and enjoy genuine fellowship over a hot cup of tea (and, hopefully, some delicious cake and biscuits!). We’ll also hear a testimony shared by one of the women in our community.

What is a Testimony?
For those who might be new to this, a testimony is simply a personal account of God’s goodness. While it often tells the story of how someone came to faith, it can also be about moments of hardship, growth, or change where God’s presence and power were clearly felt.

These aren't just stories about us; they are stories that point to God’s faithfulness and grace. It is a wonderful way to encourage one another and give glory to Him. We hope to see you there!

What Are Our Kids Learning?

On Sunday, the children learned about how God’s perfect world was broken by sin. In the beautiful Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had everything they needed, but they chose to listen to the serpent instead of trusting God. By disobeying God’s one command, they brought sin, suffering, and separation from God into the world.

But the story didn’t end in hopelessness. We learned that right in the middle of this very bad day, God made a very good promise. He spoke of a future "Snake Crusher", an offspring who would defeat the enemy and restore God's people. We saw how this promise points straight to Jesus, our Savior who crushed the serpent’s head to bring us back to God!

This weeks memory verse is:
“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” - Genesis 3:15

Teach the Text

The Gospel Training Trust has started a new practical, hands-on Bible training course for anyone who wants to read the Bible well and teach it to others. Join online on Monday nights for six weeks! This Teach the Text will focus on Old Testament Narrative, and we’ll learn how to read and understand this Bible genre by looking at 1 Kings. You’ll discover the author’s big purpose and learn how to find the structure and main theme of a passage for yourself.

When: Mon, 23 Feb – 30 Mar, 7:00-8:15 pm

This course will be taught by Rob Morton, who is Mike & Carol’s son-in-law and the director of the Tim Course in Christchurch. It will be run online through Zoom for 6 weeks, and it costs $50.

Study at Grace Theological College

There are a couple of classes we would like to encourage the folk and Redeemer to consider studying at Grace Theological College. You can read about both of these in the images above. If you want more information about studying at GTC, you can click on the images, and you’ll be directed to the GTC website. If you are interested in studying, Sean would love to chat to you about your options and how the church could support you.

Redeemer Chuch WhatsApp Community

We now have 34 members in our WhatsApp community, which is wonderful! If you still haven’t joined, you can scan the QR or click on the image above. If you don’t have WhatsApp, and/or if you’d like any help joining the Redeemer Church Community, please feel free to reply to this email, contact me (Fraser) on 0273086075 or chat to me at church on Sunday. We’ll get you sorted!

Reflection For The Week

“The Scriptures remind us, as ‘lights in the world’, as ‘the salt’ of society, and like ‘a city on a hill’. There is no hope for the world apart from the light which comes to it from the Christian teaching...It is for us to give an example to the whole world as to how life is to be truly lived.”

- D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones
