Update No. 420

Good Morning, Redeemer Family

Sermon Recordings

This week, Fraser walked us through Exodus 32 and 33, examining the Israelites' rebellion with the golden calf and Moses' powerful intercession on their behalf. He reminded us that, much like Israel, we are prone to shaping God into an image of our own convenience and desperately need a mediator to stand between us and our rightful judgment. While Moses faithfully pleaded for God's presence to remain with the people, he could not ultimately atone for their sin; however, in Jesus Christ, we have a perfect and better Mediator who not only intercedes for us but paid our penalty completely. We were encouraged to examine our hearts for idols, to desire intimacy with the Lord above any earthly blessings, and to rest confidently in the finished work of Christ that gives us unrestricted access to the Father.

If you weren’t able to make it on Sunday or if you’d like to listen to this sermon or any previous sermons, they’re all available here… or you can just listen below.

Can’t wait until Wednesday to listen to our latest sermon? Good news, you don’t have to! Our sermons are now uploaded by 5pm every Sunday.

Wednesday In The Word

Our next Wednesday in the Word is on Wednesday, April 22nd, from 7:15pm at the Rogers (68 Fernleigh Street)! This is open to anyone and everyone (13+), and if you’ve got younger kids that need to come along, they’re welcome to hang out too!

Just a reminder of the questions that we will be asking/answering, so that you can come prepared!

What did you like about this story? Why?

What questions might someone have about it?

What do we learn about people?

What do we learn about God (or Jesus)?

After hearing this, what are you going to do this week?

Our discussions will be based around Luke 6:27–36, but feel free to engage with the rest of the context reading as well.

Context Reading: Luke 6:12–49

Focus Passage: Luke 6:27–36

No Sunday School

There will be no Sunday School this Sunday; the children will be in the service. We will have sermon notes and activity sheets available as per usual. Sunday School will resume on the 26th of April.

Women’s Ministry Support

We are getting closer and closer to fully funding Carli in her new Women’s Ministry Role! Thank you to all those who have already pledged support, and for all those who have been in prayer for Carli as she discerns how to best serve the women of the church.

Our Goal: 10 partners at $24/week.

Current Progress: We now have 8 people committed (including larger one-time donations)!

Remember, $24 a week is simply a guide to help us track our progress. You definitely don't have to give that exact amount. Whether it is more or less, every bit helps us support Carli in this vital discipleship work, and hopefully even expand her hours as the church grows!

How to Partner With Us: If you would like to have "skin in the game" and financially partner with and support this ministry, you can use the details below:

Bank: TSB

Account Name: Redeemer Church

Account Number: 15-3953-0698528-000

Reference: As with your regular giving, please include your Name (for your end-of-year tax receipt) but ALSO the letters "WM" (so we know to apply it to this specific goal!).

Thank you for praying about how you can be a part of this!

Tea & Testimony

Our next gathering will be on Saturday, May 2nd, from 7pm at the Rogers (68 Fernleigh Street)!

We are so excited to have Angie from King’s Church in Christchurch (part of our New Frontiers family) joining us to share her testimony that night. Angie is coming up with her husband Tim, who will be preaching for us on the Sunday.

“There Was Not A Needy Person Among Them”

As a community, we are so blessed by the faithful presence of Sio and Kathleen. They both deeply desire to be here worshipping with us in person each Sunday, but sadly, Kathleen’s mobility is currently limited, which makes this very difficult.

A wheelchair would be a huge help to Kathleen, but at this time, Sio and Kathleen are not in a position to purchase one on their own. They have humbly asked our church family to join them in prayer and to see if anyone might be able to help meet this practical need.

How You Can Help:

Pray: Please join us in praying for Sio and Kathleen’s health and mobility, and that God provides a way for Kathleen to join us easily each Sunday.

Practical Support: If you have a gently used wheelchair sitting in storage that you would be willing to donate or lend, or if you know of any community resources or connections that might have one available, please let us know.

If you are able to help, or if you have a lead for us to follow up on, please reach out to Carli.

Thank you for your continued love, prayers, and generosity toward our church family.

Reflection For The Week

"Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. And people who would be happy in heaven if Christ were not there, will not be there. The gospel is not a way to get people to heaven; it is a way to get people to God."

- John Piper
